Picture Discussion by Jia Yu (07)

The picture above depicts a scene of many people picking up rubbish from the ground. From the background, I know that they are in a public area, most probably a public park, as there is sunlight and trees present around the children. This is most likely a Community Involvement Activity ( CIP) and the people are also most likely to have come from the same school, or organisation, as they are carrying out the activity together. They are thus most likely to be students. However, the students, most likely teenagers ( as they are taller than children) , are not wearing school uniform. This is may be because, the activity is not taking place on a normal school day, but maybe on weekends or holidays. I can also infer that it is a school activity.

One of the girls ,the one wearing pink and white, must be enjoying this activity as you can see a smile on her face. This is good because she enjoys keeping her country clean. A boy wearing a green and white striped shirt is looking into his garbage bag. He may be examining the amount of rubbish he had picken up. He is holding a rather big and bulging garbage bag, so I can thus infer that he had picked up quite alot of rubbish. This activity is most likely taking place in the evening, because the sun is setting. Besides, it could not have been taking place in the afternoon, because it does not look as hot. The other students are also diligently picking up the litter on the ground. This is commendable, as there is no sign of complaint and fatigue present on their faces. This shows that although this is not an easy job, they still enjoy doing it, as they are playing a part in keeping their country clean.

It is selfish for people who enjoys throwing litter all around as they are making the cleaning job difficult for cleaners. Thus, it is good for the studnets to start learning and playing a part in keeping their country clean and green. Hence, the best way to educate the students is through hands on experience, it teaches them the difficulty of cleaning litter, and thus let them know that anyhow throwing litter is a bad habit.
